Tankcsapda is a heavy metal band that is extremely popular in Hungary. They only sing in Hungarian, so if you aren’t Hungarian, chances are you have never heard of them. I had never heard of them, so I can’t say I was particularly star struck when I met them.
Anyway, last year, through a friend, they ended up performing in Sydney and staying 2 nights at our house. They turned out to be great guys and a lot of fun. We went to the concert and showed them a bit of Sydney.
We showed them the Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Bondi Beach, which they loved. They played only one night in Sydney, but the tickets sold out very quickly, and I think I was the only non-Hungarian there.
This is the Sydney concert Sound check.
Here they are having a play in our home.
They could speak English pretty well, so we could communicate. They liked the beach and noticed that the cars didn’t use their horns. Also that we drive on the left hand side of the road.
It was funny for me, getting to know the guys first and then realising how popular their music was and meeting their fans. It was a great experience that I will never forget.
